Howard Lederer grew up in a family of five in which he enjoyed gambling on various card games at a young age. He discovered himself getting really aggressive in these particular card games as he was competing against his dad. After finishing high school, Howard made a decision to place higher education on hold for a bit and relocated to New York to compete in some big-time chess. Howard Lederer also helped his sister Annie Duke learn the game of poker. Howard relocated to Sin City in 1993 and competed in cash games for the following 10 years. When the WPT grew in popularity, he decided to compete in more tournaments.
