Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker contender in the world by most of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to learn every little thing he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the adverse comments from others kill his dream of being one of the best poker players on the planet.
Phil began playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a learning experience and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and a continuing love for poker. Phil says that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Even though Phil has won some big tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
