NL Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker competitor on the planet by many of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandfather showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to pickup whatever he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the negative comments from others destroy his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.

Phil started playing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and a continuing love for poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his achievements. He admits to making blunders every single session of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Although Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
