Web High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen enjoyed a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to make it to the final poker table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. He won a big pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best players anywhere in the world. While gambling on web poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. Gus often competes in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus usually buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He waits for a decent hand and then goes all in. I believe Gus is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless he is penniless, he has little or no reason to play at the game with the minimum buy-in.

Buying in for the minimum takes a majority of the ability out of deep stack poker. Hansen is assumed to be one of the greatest players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the total amt.. I believe tv can skew our perception of the real world at times. The best players anywhere in the world may be players you have won’t have heard of before. Gus can be found betting on net poker on Full Tilt. He generally competes in big stakes omaha hold’em and hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his abilities in money rounds?
