How detailed is up to you. I usually believe that hourly details and that kind of intimate detail is not needed. Basically work out how far ahead you are and how much (if any) you have withdrawn. Naturally, if you are beaten, record that too, regardless of how much it it might pain you.
Don’t overlook to record what type of poker you are playing, if that’s significant to you. (In my experience, most gamblers hold to what they understand and do not try something they do not know. If all you record is winnings, down and what you’ve taken out, you’re light years in front of most players out there!)
Bestow on yourself achievable goals, like a ‘dream’ target (new car, get-a-way or whatever). When you withdraw, mark the money withdrawn to your dream tally. The greater the success you have, the closer that dream will get!
