Do you ever have that itch? The itch to bet, to head to the closest gambling den, to locate a superior stakes casino game of Texas hold’em, to sit at a Black-jack table for hours on end. I like that itch. And I love to scratch it.
I also like to watch people today wager. No two poker faces seem equal. When I wager I like to consider I put on a poker face that is impassable. Except I know I have certain gestures. For 1, the only time I smoke cigarettes is when I wager on poker or Pontoon. And then I smoke. But I chain smoke whether I am succeeding or losing, regardless of whether I’ve a excellent hand or bad.
I once played within a weekly poker game. The casino game was always 5 card draw. There was a guy who played with us every single week who constantly wore a hat. When he was given a beneficial hand, subconsciously, he would begin touching and wagering with his hat. Pointless to say, he never won.
The greatest poker gambler I ever saw was a player who manufactured more movements and gestures at a poker table than anybody I had ever seen. He was impressive in the way he dressed. Usually an high priced suit and tie, boots shined and nails trimmed. He was diligent in this manner. And he was usually brushing his pant leg or rubbings his hands or stacking his chips in tidy little piles.
I use to analyze him for hours on end. I’d attempt to see if I could spot his tell. Picking fuzz off his vest- did this imply he was bluffing? Stacking his chips in a short pile – did this mean he had a good hand?
Years later I bumped into him within a bar in Boston and we had a beverage. I asked him if he were aware of all those motions he produced or if they were subconscious. He informed me that every little thing he did at a poker table was deliberate. He said that everyone is always checking out everyone else’s poker face. They’re trying to notice the the tell.
So his method was to give them lots to assume about. His thinking was if they had been pondering about him selecting a piece of fuzz off his coat and what it meant they certain were not thinking about their cards.
His method was distraction. And it worked for him. In no way give up a method that functions for you.
