The Background of Poker Chips

[ English ]

Casino chips have been manufactured from a varied range of materials in an almost infinite variety of styles since the creation of betting and the need to track winnings. The most commonly seen components employed at this time in the creation of modern poker chips are plastic, clay composite, and acrylic composite. Clay chips, the primary of the group, have been manufactured in America since the late 19th century.

Back in the 1800s, poker enthusiasts seemed to use any small valuable object imaginable. Early poker players at times used jagged gold pieces as well as chips – primarily made of wood and clay. By the 1900s, poker chip designs started to play a greater prominence, and the smooth sides of older chips were given up to chips with ridges to hold them neatly stacked together.

There is little or no debate that poker has gotten bigger steadily in acceptance ever since its beginnings in the 1800s. With the huge increase of net gambling and specialty television shows, community interest in poker has feed the fire more rapidly than ever before. Many people are first introduced to poker by TV showssuch as Bravo’s "Celebrity Poker Showdown" or the Travel Channel’s "World Poker Tour," and many will compete in their 1st hands on the net. Despite online poker’s rise, not much replaces the feeling of shuffling weighty poker chips in your hand, tossing chips into the middle of a poker table, or stacking tall pilesstacks of chips after showing a victorious hand.
