NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?


Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to learn every little thing he could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the negative feedback from others annihilate his dream of being one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

He started playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a learning experience and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated a number of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he is learning every day and is quite abashed about his success. He knows he makes errors in each session of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a normal basis.
