Holdem is just about gamblers and position. All rounded Hold’em players concur that position in no limit Hold’em is critically important. Showing your hole cards in late spot can be a whole lot more beneficial than in starting poker position. This is because a whole lot more data is gathered right before acting.
For example, I played in a $1-$2 no limit cash round at a local spot. I bumbled in holding 2, 9 unsuited on the croupier button, so I could partake in some excitement. Flop arrived A-A-4. A bettor in early spot laid a $15 wager. Two players drop out and it was now my turn. I really should have folded, but something seemed a little off. I read this contender as a weak-tight player, and usually if he had the best hand he would just check, so I called.
The turn showed with a 7, meaning it was a A-A-4-7. My challenger made another wager of $20. I debated a little bit, but decided to re-raise an additional $30thirty dollars on top of his $20. He folds and I take the chips.
Sitting at last position provides you an idea where you are positioned by watching how entrants behave and wager. On the other hand, people at early spot might use their poker position to check-raise the last seated competitors and corner them later at the end. In Texas Hold’em, both spots, last and early must be wagered carefully.
