Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to achieve final poker table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the best gamblers around the world. While wagering on net poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He often plays in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of $40, 000. Gus frequently buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He waits for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I know Hansen is a great poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has no reason to sit at the table with the minimum buy in.
Playing for the min takes a majority of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be one of the best players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the full dollar value. I think tv can alter our view of the real world at times. The best poker players in the world could be guys you have never heard about. Gus can be found participating in online poker on Full Tilt. He generally participates in big stakes omaha high and texas hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his skills in cash rounds?
