Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker competitor on the globe by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to learn everything he could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the adverse comments from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.
He started competing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated many of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to hard work and a continuing love for poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and always aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
