Online poker has become world famous as of late, with televised tournaments and celebrity poker game shows. Its popularity, though, stretches back in fact a bit farther than its TV ratings. Over the years many types on the earliest poker game have been created, including a few games that are not quite poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of these games. Regardless of the name, Caribbean stud poker is most closely related to chemin de fer than old guard poker, in that the players bet against the house rather than the other players. The succeeding hands, are the traditional poker hands. There is little bluffing or different kinds of deceptiveness. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to pay up before the croupier saying "No further bets." At that moment, both you and the bank and of course all of the different gamblers attain five cards. After you have seen your hand and the casino’s 1st card, you must either make a call bet or give up. The call wager’s value is equal to your original bet, which means that the risks will have increased two fold. Giving Up means that your ante goes directly to the bank. After the wager is the face off. If the house doesn’t have ace/king or better, your bet is returned, with a figure equal to the ante. If the dealer does have ace/king or better, you succeed if your hand is greater than the casino’s hand. The casino pays out chips even with your original bet and fixed expectations on your call wager. These expectations are:
- Equal for a pair or high card
- 2-1 for 2 pairs
- three to one for three of a kind
- four to one for a straight
- 5-1 for a flush
- 7-1 for a full house
- 20-1 for a 4 of a kind
- fifty to one for a straight flush
- one hundred to one for a royal flush
