No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?


Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker contender on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to learn everything he could about the game. He would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his dream of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil started playing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a learning opportunity and winning was not a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an undying love for poker. Phil says that he’s learning every day and is quite abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Although Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
